" This exhibition beautifully showcases the stories of Asians in Uganda. The narratives are compelling and give a genuine taste of history. The presentation is outstanding, and I find it deeply engaging. Reading it feels like traveling back in time, witnessing the events firsthand. The visuals are captivating and are presented in a manner that appeals to me. It's a display that genuinely intrigues me and sheds light on past events. One of the photos features an image of my grandmother. "

"Thank you for this poignant exhibition commemorating 50 years. I've grown up hearing tales from my grandparents, Sudha & Arvind Brambhatt, and mother, Suhas, about their migration from Uganda to England. Their narratives, filled with the pain of leaving Uganda and challenges faced here, echo the resilience of the entire Ugandan Asian community. It's especially touching to read accounts from those who settled in Hemel Hempstead. My family embodies the spirit, strength, and generosity of this community. Their legacy has been my foundation. Kudos to everyone involved in creating this memorable exhibition. "

"I'm Brenda, and at 87, I vividly recall the arrival of Ugandan families. It warms my heart to know they found a supportive community in Hemel Hempstead, enabling them to establish fulfilling lives. This kind of reception is a testament to the idea that we are all global citizens. I've always believed in a world without barriers, devoid of walls, borders, and checkpoints. It deeply saddens me to witness the present treatment of asylum seekers. It's a stark contrast to the welcome the Ugandans received. I genuinely hope that we can soon extend the same compassion and assistance to these individuals in need."

" "This exhibition provides an insightful journey into the history of Ugandans and Asians who migrated to the UK, seeking a fresh start. Forced to abandon their homeland due to tumultuous circumstances, they came with hopes and dreams of a better life. It's crucial to recognize and appreciate their resilience, strength, and determination. The stories displayed here evoke a profound understanding of their experiences. It's my fervent hope that they found warmth and acceptance upon their arrival in the UK. We must remember that discrimination has no place in our society. Before passing judgment, one should reflect on the hardships of living under oppressive regimes. Understanding and empathy go a long way. "

" This exhibition is beautifully curated. It resonates deeply with my family's history. My grandfather ventured to Uganda in 1902, where he established a Nile Soda factory, followed by a bakery, marking our family's entrepreneurial spirit. My father was born on Ugandan soil in 1917, and my own birth took place in Nairobi, Kenya, reflecting our family's journey across East Africa. It's heartwarming to see the stories of the Asian community from the early 1900s brought to life. Their resilience, determination, and contributions are commendably represented here. Kudos to everyone involved in showcasing this pivotal chapter of history. "

"It deeply saddens me to learn of the hardships the Ugandan Asians endured. It's unimaginable how such drastic circumstances upended your lives and the immense challenges you confronted. Despite adversities, you've triumphed, and in Decorum, we embrace you wholeheartedly. Remember, God's love is unwavering for each one of you. Gratitude and glory should always be directed to Him for the strength and perseverance He bestows. Wishing you all the best on your continued journey. Warm regards, "

"This exhibition has been an enlightening experience for me. While I had a broader understanding of the era of Idi Amin in Uganda, I was unaware of the significant number of people who found refuge in Hemel Hempstead. It's essential for these narratives to be showcased, bridging the gap between global events and local impacts.
